This website was created by the children of Leroy Reinburg, Jr., to make more widely available his writings about his experiences over 34 years in the United States Coast Guard. Throughout history, individuals have recorded and documented their experiences of events large and small through narratives and photographs. Personal accounts often give details and color to historical events that help us see a fuller picture. It is our hope that Dad’s writings and photographs fill in details in U.S. Coast Guard history for the period he served, from the time he was a U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadet during World War II through his experience as Commanding Officer of the USCG Cutter PONTCHARTRAIN during the Vietnam War. Reinburg family history is closely tied to the history of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service and the U.S. Coast Guard, with successive generations committing themselves to service in these branches as well as in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. We plan to share as much of our family archive of information and photographs as we can digitize and post here.
We’d love to hear from you with your own stories and comments. Please comment on the articles and posts, or send us your thoughts and feedback through our Contact Form. Thank you for visiting Reinburg.net.
